Climate Action at Jericho Primary School

At Jericho Primary School, we believe it is important for children to understand the world they are growing up in and the part they can play in protecting it.

Our school building is a modern, energy‑efficient site, opened in 2019, and we are proud of the strong foundations this gives us. Our Climate Action Plan focuses on making the most of what we already have, while helping children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need for the future.

Through our curriculum, school routines and enrichment activities, pupils learn about:

  • caring for the environment
  • reducing waste
  • protecting wildlife and biodiversity
  • saving energy and water
  • making healthy, sustainable choices

Children take an active role through our Eco‑Council, gardening projects, outdoor learning and special events, helping them see that their actions make a difference both in school and at home.

We also work with families and the wider community, sharing ideas, celebrating success and encouraging small, positive changes that can have a lasting impact.

Our Climate Action Plan is reviewed regularly and continues to grow alongside our school and our pupils.

Together, we are helping children become responsible, confident and hopeful citizens of the future.
